Featured Presentation:

Lessons From The Software Company

Henry Treftz, Senior DBA DRW Trading

A former ISV database developer and DBA tries to explain why software companies who have products that run against SQL Server database do some of things that they do, including those things that may frustrate you. Also some suggestions of software company practices that you may want to take a look at using in other development and production environments. The presentation also offers some suggestions on how to get better support from your vendors.

About Henry:
I have worked with SQL Server since the mid 90's starting with SQL Server 4.21 running under OS/2. I have worked as a developer, designer, and DBA for a variety of organizations, ranging from trading firms, real estate services companies a water testing lab as well as software companies. As part of my past, I spent 8 years working on systems that were either designed from the ground up to be installed as third-party applications or designed as internal products that were later bundled and sold as applications to customers. I also spent some time in .com land and though I did not end up a millionaire I did end up with some great stories.
