Moving From Profiler to Extended Events - Jes Borland

Abstract: For years, SQL Server Profiler and traces were the way we answered the question, “What’s happening on my SQL Server system?” A new tool has emerged to answer that question with more options, which ultimately gives you more information: Extended Events. In this session you’ll learn the building blocks of Extended Events sessions. You’ll see a side-by-side comparison of how to create a trace and a session, and you’ll learn how much more information you gain from the session! You’ll also learn a step-by-step method to convert existing traces to sessions. After attending this session, you’ll confidently be able to move from Profiler to Extended Events.

Speaker Bio: Jes Schultz Borland is a senior SQL engineer at Concurrency and a Microsoft SQL Server MVP. She holds an AAS - Programmer/Analyst degree and has worked with SQL Server as a developer, report writer, DBA, and consultant. She is an active member of PASS, President of FoxPASS in northeast Wisconsin, founder of Tech on Tap, and a LessThanDot.com blogger.
