Extended Events with Dave Bland

Please join us on August 1st, 2018 for a talk about SQL Server Extended Events with Dave Bland.

A bit about the presentation:

"Extended Events are an essential part of proper monitoring and every DBA should know what they are and how to use them.  This session will cover the basics of Extended Events as well as an introduction to the system_health session.  This session will give someone who has never used Extended Events before the skills to start using them!  We will also cover some of the common events to monitor and what kind of issues can be found."

A bit about Dave:

"Dave has a degree in education from Western Illinois University and has worked as a band director for grades 5 -12 and managed group homes for individuals with disabilities for 12 years.  For the last 20 years Dave has worked in the technology field with over 14 years of SQL Server DBA experience working with all versions since SQL Server 2000.  He has experience as a BI developer and Application developer using VB.NET.  Dave currently supervises the Shared Services DBA team at Stericycle.  He has also worked as a DBA in the casino industry, insurance industry as well as the transportation industry.  He is a frequent presenter at SQL Saturday events throughout the Midwest. Has been teaching SQL Server since version 2000 and currently is the SQL Server instructor at Harper College in Palatine, IL. Dave currently holds 13 certifications including the following:.  : • Microsoft Certified Trainer since 1998 • MCTS: SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance • MCTS: SQL Server 2008, BI Development and Maintenance • MCSA: SQL Server 2008 • MCSA: SQL Server 2012\2014 • MCSE: SQL Server 2012\2014 - BI • MCDBA: SQL Server 2000 • MCSD  • MCSE: Data Management and Analytics and A+."

About Dave:
Over 20 years of SQL Server experience that includes being a DBA, BI development and Application development using VB.NET. Dave currently is the Manager of the DBA team at Stericycle. Dave is a Friend of Red-Gate for 2019. He is a frequent presenter at SQL Saturday events and user groups around the country. Has been teaching SQL Server since version 2000 and is the SQL Server instructor at Harper College in Palatine, IL.
